Graduate Vacancies

Securing graduate employment within the design/creative sector is highly competitive, therefore we recommend that you follow our top tips for a successful job search:

•  Be open minded about roles, company, location and market level - your first role may not be your dream job however it's best to secure employment, get experience on your CV and begin learning new skills. Once you have between 6 months to a year of experience you will be in a much better position to be more discerning about your second role

•  Know where and how to find graduate opportunities. The majority of vacancies are never advertised on the open market however those that are will be promoted via a variety of different media: specialist creative/design jobs boards online, general jobs boards and newspapers, the trade press (such as Drapers), general networking sites such as Linkedin and portfolio websites such as _Coroflot. For a full list of these sites contact the Student Services Team.

•  Network as much as possible (both in person and online) and apply to as many companies as possible on a speculative basis - it's all about being in the right place at the right time and also keeping proactive by applying to companies on a daily basis - keep the momentum going

•  Keep your portfolio up to date following graduation. A portfolio is never finished - you should constantly analyse what could be improved by editing your university work (remember that final major projects can often date quickly) and adding new projects

The following resources have been designed to give you access to current vacancies and prepare you for working within your chosen sector:
