Blojsom Moblog Plugin
Do you want to blog on the go? Even from your mobile phone? The Blojsom Moblog Plugin for mobile blogging is a great feature that enables you to send a post to your blog from your email capable mobile phone, or any email client for that matter.
Moblogging Quick Start
Here's a simple overview of how to get set for moblogging. You need to do a little bit of configuration. Don't worry, it's easy - just follow these simple steps and you'll be moblogging in moments.

Stage 1: Finding the plugin configuration screen
Before you get started, you need to configure the moblogging plugin to recognise emails from your phone. To do this, log into your blog's administrative console. Then go along to Plugin Settings, then down to Configure Plugins.

Stage 2: Finding the moblogging plugin
Now you'll be faced with a list of plugins that you can configure. Go down the list to Moblog Plugin and click on the link.

Stage 3: Creating your plugin configuration
- To enable Moblog Plugin pick True (to turn it off choose False).

- Set the name of the mail server that the plugin should check, that is, the server hostname. The hostname for our mail server here at the college is mailbox.rave.ac.uk. You can use any mail server you have an account on. If you don't know the server name, check with your mail administrator.

- If you're using the College mail server, your user ID is your usual College login ID.
For students, this is the same as your student ID

- You can Blojsom to place your moblog entry automatically in to category of your choice. For example, say you had a category called 'design', then would look like this: /design. Or you could create a category called moblog, and then that would look like /moblog

- You can set a code-word that you'll have to enter into the beginning of your email subject line when you post to your blog. This is a sensible measure if you often send yourself emails that you don't want to appear on your blog! When Blojsom checks your email, it will look for the code-word at the beginning of your subject line and if it can't find it, it will ignore the mail.

- You can leave this box empty for College email. Ignore regular expression allows you to specify text to ignore in your emails. You might want to do this if you send emails from a free email account that has an advertising banner on the bottom.

- For the accepted text MIME types for the boby of our e-mails, we'll use plain text and html.

- With e-mail attachments that will send from our mobile phone or computer, under accepted attachments MIME types, we'll user jpeg, png and gif formats.
Accepted attachments MIME types image/png, image/jpeg, image/gif, image/jpg
- You many also want to add these extra MIME types as well for video + mp3 audio files from your mobile phone and pdf podcasting from photocopiers.
Accepted attachments MIME types image/png, image/jpeg, image/gif, image/jpg, video/3gp, audio/mpeg, application/pdf
Once you have done all the above settings, just click on Update moblog settings below Accepted attachments MIME types to save your setup.

Stage 4: Adding your authorized e-mail address
This bit is very important because if you don't add an authorized e-mail address, then Blojsom will just simply ignore the e-mails you send to be mobloged.
So for example, if you're sending your e-mails to your blog via say, your T-Mobile phone, and your you've got your phone set up with a T-Mobile e-mail address then you would use that. If you're just e-mailing from your computer then you might want to use your Ravensbourne e-mail address.
Once you're happy with your e-mail address just click Add authorized e-mail address
note: You can add more then one e-mail address, but add them one at a time.

Stage 5: Authorized e-mail address list
Once you've added your e-mail address or addresses then you'll see them pop up in the Authorized e-mail address list, under Delete authorized e-mail address. Don't panic, only if you click on an address to highlight it and then click on Delete authorized e-mail address will it be deleted.

Setting up your mobile phone
As all mobile phones have there own way of setting up their e-mail settings we recommend that you refer to your particular 'phone manual for this.
we recommend that if your 'phone supports ssl that you use it, as now most ISPs use ssl on their outgoing mail servers (SMTP server).
Composing your e-mail to send to your blog
Be it on your mobile phone e-mail client or your computer e-mail client. Make shore that you include at the beginning of your e-mail subject line your Secret word with a space then the title of your blog entry. When you click send, your entry will appear in its default category.
eg. the subject title would look like this...

To send a blog entry to a category of your choice, then start with your Secret word then space then [/design] then title 'We had a great day out'.

Blojsom will check the e-mail server every 5 minutes for any moblog entries to add to your blog.
